It is never easy when we must say goodbye to one of our own, but this time the pain is even deeper because we are bidding farewell to Joe Mahop — popularly known to us as Grand Joe; a kind heart, a gentle soul, and a noble man. The Bible reminds us, "If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So then, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord." In these words, we find comfort.

Knowing that Christianity was such a central part of your life gives us peace and reassurance that you have returned to your maker and are thus resting in a better place. To Auntie Eve, Maliz, Channel, and Joe, words can never truly capture the depth of this loss, and the void left behind can never be filled. Please know, however, that the entire Soba family stands firmly beside you in prayer and support during this difficult time, and through the family, we are ready and willing to assist in any way you choose to honor and carry forward his legacy.
